A vacant retail warehouse unit that was formerly occupied by Focus DIY, a national chain of do-it-yourself stores.
WHAT WE DID
As the appointed receivers of the property we:
- carried out marketing and analysis which revealed that a change of use to enable food sales would significantly enhance the value of the site
- partnered with a major national grocery retailer to obtain new a planning consent
- lobbied for local support for the change of use and despite significant planning challenges we persevered, resulting in the required consent being granted
- achieved circa £3m improvement in value following detailed negotiations, culminating in a sale to discount retailer Aldi
